Step-by-step — Google Earth

Follow these steps to open the drone zones in Google Earth Pro.


1. Download and install Google Earth Pro

Go to google.com/earth/versions and click "Download Earth Pro on desktop". Install with default settings.

2. Download the KML files

Download all three files from Data Downloads:

Save the files somewhere you can find them (e.g. the Downloads folder).


3. Open KML in Google Earth

Double-click a downloaded .kml file — Google Earth opens automatically and displays the drone zones.

Alternatively: Open Google Earth → FileOpen (Ctrl+O) → select the .kml files. Repeat for all three files.

4. Navigate and explore

Use scroll to zoom, click+drag to pan the map, and the middle mouse button to tilt/rotate in 3D.

Click on a zone to see its name and description in the info box.

In the "Places" panel on the left side you can toggle layers on/off with checkboxes.


5. Measure distance to a zone

Click the ruler icon (or ToolsRuler). Click on your starting point, then click on the edge of the nearest drone zone.

Remember

Distance measurements in Google Earth are approximate. Always use the official drone zone map for precise calculations.


Done! You can now view all drone zones in Google Earth Pro. Use the search field to find specific locations, and save placemarks via AddPlacemark to quickly return.
